Homeopathy is a western system of treatment, developed in Germany at the end of the 18th century, based on the understanding that healing comes from within, from the body’s innate self-healing forces. It is based on the principle that 'like cures like' — that is, the similar substance cures when administered in very small doses. Homeopathic therapists believe that diluting and succussing the remedy increases the healing potential. Therefore, homeopaths treat illness by using small doses of specially prepared plant extracts and minerals to stimulate the healing processes of the body. Homeopathy focusses on bringing the entire body back into homeostasis, or balance. |
Because homeopathic remedies are highly diluted substances, absence of toxicity is assured. Each remedy is individually prescribed according to how it stimulates the immune and defence systems of the sick person. A consultation takes the form of an in-depth interview, focussing on the patient’s life style, their particular presentation of sickness and the mental and emotional states people find themselves in. The intention is to acquire a balanced picture from which to choose the most effective remedy or medicine for that person. We are looking for the key to unlock them, the thread which joins their story together.

We also use homeopathy very successfully for acute illness and children respond very well here. Chamomile, given homeopathically according to how it manifests, can bring relief in fever states. Arnica, given to the mother soon after childbirth, speeds recovery considerably.
